Place of Shadows, Mansion of Menace is based on the 1960's and 70's gothic book covers and gothic films. The title is made up of two book titles put together: "Place of Shadows" and "Mansion of Menace" . The soundtrack plays excerpts of The Raven by Poe, read by Vincent Price, Christopher Walken, and Christopher Lee, with clips from the Phillip Glass score for the 1931 Dracula as well as a horror movie trailer and storm sounds.

There are 6 videos in the top green building, one in the purple building, one in the pond, and four in the bottom red building. There is also the projection that reflects off the hidden mirror onto the wall. Footage used includes Count Yorga, The Return of Count Yorga, The Vampire Lovers, The Haunted Palace, House of Usher, Andy Warhol's Dracula, The Vampire and the Vixen, Gothic, and several others.
