Caochangdi is a sculpture of the village where the gallery is located in Beijing. Next to pristine gallery spaces sits a village where people live in their stores, coal is often burned for heat, and many people still use the public bathhouse because of a lack of indoor plumbing. Even though the village is full of poverty, there is something beautiful and unique about the place and the people who live there.
